2 makes up classes per registered child are allowed (but not guaranteed) each semester, on a first-come, first-serve basis beginning week two. Make up's may be scheduled at all of our locations.
Please note: if your family has special circumstances and wishes to have an extra make up class, please notify our office. If space is available, we will help schedule an additional make up class for your family.
If your child is sick, please keep them home and schedule a make up class. According to the Health Department of the University of Utah if your child has:
It is so important for families to feel safe in class. Thank you for helping us keep our classes safe and fun for everyone!
Children are certainly encouraged to move in class! We will jump, spin, wiggle, roll, and occasionally run in teacher led whole group activities. In general however, for safety reasons we have a no running policy. Teachers may assist and redirect children, but parents are strictly responsible for their own child's safety.
Please mute, set to vibrate, or turn off your cell phone during class. If you must answer a call please leave the room to do so, but please remember classes are only 45 minutes, and your participation is essential.
You will undoubtedly want to take photos and videos of your child making music! However, since your participation is essential, please limit picture taking in class. If time allows we will make a "photo-op" happen after class with instruments upon request. Also, please do not photograph, film, or post photos of other children without their families' permission.
Please feel comfortable to nurse or bottle feed your baby in class at your own discretion. Other than that, we ask that snacks NOT appear in class. Our classes may be more energetic than you think so we do encourage you to bring water and stay hydrated.
Classes run with a minimum of 6 enrolled students and a maximum of 12 students. Classes are subject to cancellation or combination depending on enrollment. (See Class Cancellations below.)
Holiday closures will be announced at the beginning of each semester. Classes will be subject to cancellation due to insufficient enrollment (minimum 6 children), in which case you may choose to be refunded (See Refunds below) or join another Music Together® class. Classes may be canceled due to inclement weather, teacher illness, and for other extraordinary circumstances. We follow the local school closures for each of our class locations. We will call the families the earliest we can in case of cancellations as well an email will be send. Canceled classes will be made up at the end of the semester.
Withdrawals: a full refund can be granted if the office has been contacted regarding withdrawal a week prior to the semester start date (or if a class does not hold). If you request to withdraw at least a week before classes begin, a full credit toward an upcoming semester can be issued, or a refund minus materials and a $25 withdrawal fee depending on the situation.
No refunds are available after the session begins. We understand that sometimes unexpected things happen, however, non-attendance does not constitute a withdrawal from class. After the first day of classes, a partial credit may be issued in the event of extreme emergency situations (for example: mandatory pregnancy bed rest or prolonged hospitalizations) if the communication has been timely. Partial credit is offered at the discretion of the center directors.
Transferring: Switching classes can not be guaranteed; we will do our best to accomadate you in a different class if necessary. There are many educational benefits for children to have the continuity of musical community in their classes; we often see a child's comfort and trust level grow as they experience a similar group of familiar/safe faces each week. We do, however, understand that situations arise and you may need to request a transfer. This will be considered depending on availability and class size.
Adults & Older Children: We welcome grandparents, visiting relatives, and older siblings (age 8 and above) to join in making music with us. It is wonderful to have extra singing role models! Please let your visitors know ahead of time that the class is participation oriented. Older children are expected to participate in music-making.
Children (under age 8): For your child's safety, our class sizes are limited. Please do not bring extra children to class unless previously arranged, $15 drop-in will be charged. Visiting spots are available on a first-come first served basis.
Sibling visits: When space is available, siblings are welcome to visit class one time at no charge. Two subsequent scheduled sibling visits are permitted at a rate of $15 per child. >Please reserve a spot for the visiting sibling using the Make-Up Scheduler. Select the class you would like to attend, fill out the form, and write “Sibling visit” in the last field and specify whether it is the first, second or third visit. Payment for the second and third visits will be collected by the teacher. We accept cash (exact change) or check (made out to “Hello Music MT").
Out-of-town families: Please call the office to discuss out-of town visitors (with children under age 8). There is a $15 visiting fee.
